The Pre-Op/PACU RN is responsible for providing safe, compassionate nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures. In pre-op, this role includes assessing patients, reviewing medical history, starting IVs, administering medications, educating patients and families, and preparing patients for surgery. In PACU, the RN monitors patients during recovery from anesthesia, manages pain and symptoms, assesses vital signs, and ensures a smooth transition to discharge or inpatient care.
